God Is On Your Side

Psalms 118

Breakthrough with God's Perspective of who you are in Christ

Perspective of Self / Power of a Vision / Spiritual Perception

Intro: GOD CHANGES OUR PERSPECTIVE - Perspective is understanding something because you see things from a larger frame of reference. It is the ability to perceive how things are interrelated and then judge their comparative importance.

In a spiritual sense, it means seeing life from God's point of view. In the Bible, the words "understanding,' "wisdom,' and "discernment' all have to do with perspective. The opposite of perspective is 'hardness of heart,' 'blinded,' and 'dullness.'

Psalm 103:7 says, 'He [God] made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel' (NIV).The people of Israel got to see what God did, but Moses got to understand why God did it. This is the difference between knowledge and perspective.

  • Knowledge is learning what God has said and done.
  • Perspective is understanding why God said it or did it.

Perspective answers the 'why' questions of life.

The Bible says that unbelievers have no spiritual perspective (1 Corinthians 2:14). 'But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters].

John 5 The healing of the man who was sick for 38 years.

  1. he was religious to tradition yet he was still he remained sick.
  2.  he made excuses 'someone always steps over me and no one helps me.
  3. His perception of how he saw life was blurred.

Jesus healed not only his body but his mind, and told him to pick up his MATT, do something with the past!

Vision ; Anything that impairs your ability to see (vision) will always hinder your progress or success. You cannot do the will of God in the Dark!

Matt.6[22] The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. [23] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Know Him

  • · We must not lose commitment because the inability to see properly.

Internal Distortions Joshua and Caleb had the ability to see things different, 12 men went in to spy the land and 10 men came back with a defeated mentality and disposition.

Joshua was continually faced with choices, and most of his decisions were against popular opinion.

  •  Joshua looked at God's promises rather at the situation. A good leader is not moved on the condition or the mood of the times.

Spiritual advance requires faith, and unbelief will never see beyond the difficulties.

Note> The ten spies were defeated, I suppose the never had the ability to influence each other for the better side of the situation.

Numbers 13:30 'let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well ABLE to overcome it.'

Influencer / Joshua = Jehovah is his help / six Nations and 31 Kings were conquered by Joshua.

Student / Caleb = Bold, impetuous, whole hearted. Dog! (pit bull , You need to hang around people who will provoke you to good works.

'Perception of Life or Self; Jesus gave us a new beginning, therefore the word of God is continually perfecting itself within us. 'we Where made in the likeness of His image Gen. 1;26

The Word of God gives us the right perception of our selves and how we view life. ' 1 John 3:2 2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

  • · We did so much damage to ourselves in the past, this is why we must see ourselves as God sees us.

We have a saying around here: 'we don't have a Past' since I've come to Jesus' Psalm 118:17 '17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

Power of a Vision / Spiritual Perception: Your ability to SEE correctly will determine your success in life. God will make Himself known to you, those whom He calls He equips them for the mission.

  • · You must understand that no one here is a mistake, there is a purpose in which you are called to serve Him, and that is to declare His Marvellous works here on earth.

Rom.8:30 30 And those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified [declared free of the guilt of sin]; and those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity].

When God Calls, He also Equips. When God Calls, He Enables. When God Calls, He Provides. When God Calls you, He qualifies you. When God calls us, He equips, provides, qualifies & enables us:

Job. 5:9 'Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

Knowing Him; Knowing Him is what makes you see yourself and everything you do different, knowing Him 'in the suffering and in the power of His resurrection'. Means that, You will suffer at times but you will also resurrect those things in life that seem to be loses. Commit yourself to Him, God will see you through.

12 Spies go into the land and only 2 come out with a positive report. This is why it is very importand you hang around people who will share the vision, people who can SEE and say 'we can take the land'

  • These were men who stuck to their conviction, and refuse to allow their friend to change their perspective.
  • The 10 negative spies had a midget, small mentality disposition.

The two witnesses: There are people in this house who have a conquering spirit, they do not allow circumstance nor what people falsely prophesy to them hold them back.

Your Perception Begins Early in Life: This is why after so long of damaging yourself before you came to Jesus, now that you gave your life to Him, you have to be committed to coming to church and staying under the authority of your Bishop / pastor so that your life can continue to be nourished by the Word of God.

Hebrews 13;17 Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either].

  • His Word is always shaping me. Job.5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

'We are More than a Conquer' You will be driven by how God sees you, everything you do will be blessed. God's Word gives you the ability to retain that which is good in your life.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Fight Your Giants; Recognize who you are, Surround yourself with people that know who you are.

  • · You must not see yourself in a defeated condition, within time you will believe everything the enemy says about you.

Pss.61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

REGENERATION; Regeneration means a new birth. It is more than a reformation of the one nature, the regenerated man receives a new, holy nature that has power over the old, sinful nature. The new birth involves two elements:

  • Destroying the power of the old nature II Corinthians 5:17 ' Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
  • Imparting a new nature, which is actually the nature of God Himself

Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

  • We are begotten (conceived) by the Word of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Pss.107:2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Isa.59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

God Knows Your Limitation God knew your limitation when He called you, He will see you through. Don't ever let anyone control you, When they are made, When you've been through enough; sad, disturbed, you act the same way. You have not come this far to give up!

7 Hebrew Words for Praise and Worship

Praise is faith in action. To praise God we must first believe in God. That He is (Exodus 3:14). Then through believing (praising) we seek or come to Him. "Without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him." -Hebrews 11:6

If we diligently seek Him through praise, our action of faith, the reward is that He will reveal Himself.

Praise is a decision. When we make that decision we not only give action to our faith, but we open the door for the perceived manifested presence of God, THIS IS THE REWARD! For God inhabits the praises of His children.

HALAL – to rave upon the Lord, to celebrate, to dance, to act clamorously foolish before the Lord. The word Hallelujah comes from Halal. When Paul talks about being filled with the Spirit compared to being intoxicated (Ephesians 5:8); and after they were baptized with the Holy Spirit, people thought they were intoxicated (Acts 2:13-21). [2 Samuel 6:14-16 – David dancing before the Lord; 2 Samuel 6:20-23 – I will celebrate before the Lord; Psalms 30:11-12 – mourning into dancing; Psalms 149:3 Praise Him with dancing]

YADAH – to lift open hands to God with love, faith, trust, thanks. When we get beyond our circumstances, beyond ourselves, reaching hands to the Father with the attitude of love, trust and awe, then we are giving Yadah to the Lord. [Psalm 7:17 – I will give to the Lord thanks; Psalms 42:11 – why are you cast down my soul, praise Him!; Psalms 63:4 – I will lift up my hands in praise of you]

ZAMAR – to touch the strings, to sing songs of praise with instruments. To make music accompanied by voice. [Psalms 57:7-11 – I will sing and make a melody!; Psalms 45:8 – stringed instruments make you glad; Psalm 147:7 – sing and make a melody]

TOWDAH – with extended hands; adoration, agreement, thanks for what has been done or what will be done. Agreeing and confessing His word. To speak the same thing. Jesus, the Word, is our sacrifice to confess the Word, is how we give a sacrifice of praise to God. Further, the Word is our entrance into the presence of God. To declare openly, freely, unreservedly. Admit as real or true; agreement, confession. 'Enter His gates with Towdah!' [Colossians 1:13; "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." I confess, I have been delivered from the power of darkness and have been translated into the kingdom of the Son of His love. Romans 8:37; "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." I confess, I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me.

SHABACH – to joyfully shout the testimonies of God! A loud adoration, a joyful to overflowing attitude. [Psalm 5:11 – take refuge in Him and sing for joy; Psalms 32:11 – be glad in the Lord and shout for joy; Psalm 67:4-5 – let the nations be glad and sing for joy]

BARAUCH – a lifestyle of yielding to God, the act of kneeling or to bow, the word 'bless' in scripture. To express an attitude of love, submission and trust through the act of kneeling or bowing, it is to continually give place to the Father in every area of our life; a lifestyle. [Psalms 95:6 – let us worship, bow and kneel before the Lord, our Maker; Psalms 34:1-3 – I will bless the Lord at all times.]

TEHILLAH – to sing a new song. Spontaneously singing or melodious chanting to God. The only praise that scripturally 'God inhabits in' (Psalms 100). 'We enter His courts with Tehillah.' [Psalms 100:4 – enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; Psalms 33:3 – sing a new song and play skillfully with the strings]

OVERALL CONCLUSION

Seven - God's Number of Completion

It has been said that seven is God's number of completion. These seven Hebrew words, together as one, form the whole of praise. Within these seven words the completeness of praise, our love, is expressed:

Lifting The Hands

Confessing His Word

Testimony Of His Grace

Bowing Down

Singing

Making Music

Shouting

Dancing

Service To Others As Unto The Lord

These as one are the fullness of praise, love, expressed. This is the offering of our body to God as a living sacrifice.
